Summer's pup - Purple ribbon She is the best Pup imaginable! She wasn't to happy about the ride home but it was uneventful thank goodness, she didn't act up or anything was just nervous. Took right to her cage with no problem she would go in and out with any coaxing, we just left the door open, she slept much of the afternoon. About 5 or so yesterday evening she got playfull and we made sure she had plenty of exersice etc as we didn't plan on a full nights sleep but figured if she was really pooped out,it might be better. Well believe it or not that Pup slept (or at least was silent) all night long and as of this morning has had one mistake in the house which really was my fault as I didn't keep her out long enough this morning. Thank you guys so much, this puppy is the best! Sue and I have settled on 'Goldie' for her name. Suzanne making an appt with the Vet as we are VERY SURE she still has worms (Paula told us to expect this) and get her checked out and her shots scheduled etc. Jill she is a great dog and many thanks to both of those ladies yesterday, Paula and I am not sure the other lady ever mentioned her name but both very helpful. I do not think I could do what you folks do, I would keep everyone of those dogs. Mike Patrick **************************** 2nd update **************************** Well it has been 2 almost 3 weeks now and Goldie (Golden Sunshine Patrick) is doing great! She is a handfull though we all start School tonight for probably more people training than Puppy training. Honestly this dog is a good one, she is about 95% house trianed now. We are still having some problems with her Nipping at us hence the Training classes!!! I am afraid my wife is going to spoil her rotten. 2 cages one for in our bedroom for nightime and one for her "Room" in our Sun room and a day bed in the family room more toys than most children own. She really has gotten accustomed to the crate though if things get noisy or she gets tuckered out she can be found in her "ROOM". She has been to the Vets and got a good bill of health I think her next scheluded dose of Shots in right around Thanksgiving. My wifes Dad is really thinking about contacting you guys he has fallen in love with our Goldie. Thank You for a really great Pup!!! I would ask for advice in one area, Goldie has a unique affinity for eating her Poop. We try to divert her attention the instant she is DONE with her business but not always succesfull. IS there a secret to breaking her habit?? Mike Patrick
Summer's pup - Red ribbon Things went well picking up 'red ribbon' on Sunday. We have named him 'Maverick' and have begun the crate training already. His first visit to the vet was monday and went well (hes 11.5 lbs already and the vet said he was very smart). He really likes to interact with other animals/people! He's in the teething stage right now and loves nibbling on your fingers/neck/nose/ears. His bite is getting a bit tough now and we are replacing our 'extremities' with his bones whenever he gets roudy. Attached are some pics we have taken, hope you enjoy! - Craig and Emily
Sparkle I just got back from California, visiting my son (and my new granddog, a 9 week-old basset hound). I'm sure Charlie will send you more later, but it seems to be going well. Apparently she slept on my pillow while I was gone, but was quite happy to cuddle up with me when I showed up. I have to learn to fight for space with 2 dogs and a husband stealing the blankets! We walked them together this morning and last night and they did well. Charlie says she gets a little over-wrought if other dogs are nearby and barks a lot but I haven't seen it yet. She and Riley are sharing beds, toys and people pretty well. It's early yet but I was pleased about how they were doing when I got back home. Helen 2nd follow up: Just got back from our vet and Megan/Sparkles had a good visit. 25lbs and all is well. The Vet thinks that her surgery is healing ok. He likes her disposition and thinks the transitionthat Riley and Megan are making is pretty healthy and normal. We are going to beagle play day in Sanford this Sat AM. I have attached some pics. Will keep you posted. Thanks Charlie Burns Things are going well with Megan. She has gotten much more comfortable and is not barking at everyone. She's listening to us when we "shush" her. She and Riley play, walk, and lounge together really well. A couple of our neighbors have called them the twins because they look so cute walking, and sniffing, side by side. Of course, when she wags her tail in Riley's face his eyes water! They've also enjoyed 2 beagle play dates. This weekend we're all going in the beaglebus (rv) to the ocean, so we hope she enjoys both. Should be some good photo ops for the calendar. You can be comfortable she's found a happy home! She is a good match for us. Thanks for doing such a good job fostering her. 3rd Update:Megan has adapted well and the fun they experience is contagious. We were very lucky to find Sparkle (AKA) Megan, she only wants to please. Megan and Riley will make a great team.
Snickers Snickers is doing wonderful. She has been a delight for all of us. She is very well behaved and has not given us any trouble. It seems more like Snickers has adopted me. She follows me around and when I am outside doing yardwork, she has to be near a window to watch. When Jen or Lauren give her a command, she always looks to me before she follows through. All of the dogs in the neighborhood have become fast friends with her as have all the rabbits along our walking path. About the only things she has tried to chase have been a few raccoons and a large grey heron. We will try to bring her out to the event at the end of September so she can socialize with all of the other beagles. As you can see, she enjoys resting as much as playing. You were right when you said that as long as she got at least two 30-40 minute walks as well as several shorter ones each day, she would be a much happier beagle. She also seems to enjoy her bed after her walks. - Jay
Shy Shy is doing very good; he's still got a bit of an upset tummy, but I'm sure being moved around and changing puppy food takes a toll on such a little guy! Our other beagle "Rocky" we got last year from TBBR and Shy seem to bea good fit together too, which is great. Thanks so much, Stacy Gibson Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
