Ace Ace is doing very well. He enjoys eating, although he is much slower at finishing his food than Nellie. He has even barked at her a few times if she gets too close - just to say back off, it's mine! Occasionally she'll get into his dish if we're not watching and then he run over to us to tattle on Nellie. They LOVE to play tug-of-war with the squeaky toys and have already killed 3 of them. Ace was SO proud of himself the first day he was here and found our large bag of toys...he pulled them all out and wagged his tail so fast and just kept squeaking them. We do crate both of the dogs when we are gone for work during the day time (my husband comes home to let them out at lunch time). We have been slowly experimenting with leaving them out - loose in the house - for an hour or 2 at a time. So far so good... Ace LOVES to go for walks and to the dog park. He has made friends with many neighbor dogs and his buddies that go to the dog park every weekend. He's gotten into a few tussles at the park, but overall, he just walks around and sniffs and barks the whole time. We were pleasantly surprised to find that Ace is very affectionate. He loves to get his tummy rubbed and snuggle. If you're not petting him and he feels he should be, he'll pull your hand to him with his paw and nudge at it with him nose until you pet him. He's sweet. Good news: We've taught Ace to shake, lay down, we're working on rollover now. Sometimes he plays a little too hard for his hip, but it looks like it is filling out a little more with muscle. Thanks for checking in on Ace. We're really glad that we were able to rescue a beagle from an organization that cares so much for the dogs. We tell everyone about the rescue and have run into so many people that have rescued other dogs, too. Janet
Apollo Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Things are going great with the beagles! I adopted Apollo & Tessa, who we now call Baxter & Lucy. The two of them are so great, and so good natured! Baxter is such a lover and just a big kid! He loves to be snuggled with or just close by me. Baxter will do anything for a treat and has really done well in becoming house trained and knowing commands. He loves walks or just being out on the porch! He surprisingly likes to swim and rolls in the mud every chance he gets! I can't say how much fun and how much I loooove him. Lucy or piggy as we sometimes call her is a very sneaky girl. She loves to snuggle right up to anyone and gives a big smile for a belly rub! Lucy is sneakyas I said! She likes to pester Baxter to get him fired up, or just yesterday she stole my sandwhich while I was typing a paper! Lucy is so so so sweet and likes to follow me around too. I'm in love with her too! They love each other a lot as well. The snuggle, play, and hunt lizards together! They seem so happy to be with me and my sister. It's so much fun to come home from work and get covered in kisses and seeing their tails going a million mph! The only thing that is a problem is...sometimes I am late to work because I can't stand to leave them! Thank you Jill for helping me find 2 amazing puppies to fill my home. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help the TBBR! I haven't made it to a beagle play group yet in Sanford, but I am really looking forward to it. Thanks again! -Wendy Meli
Amber Amber is doing great!!! As a matter of fact we changed her name to Maggie- sometimes I call her Maggie Mae. So now I have the M&M girls. Molly and Maggie. Maggie is a big eater. And also a fast eater. She is finished with her food in half the time Molly is. They both love to play. I wish I had an ounce of their energy. They sleep together and eat together. They even drink water at the same time out of the same bowl. I think these two are a perfect pair!!!! They both love their walks in the morning with my husband and then we both take them in the evening. They wake us up every morning at 6:30a.m. Our live alarm clock!!(hehe) We have enjoyed these two very much. Hopefully I will send you pics of them real soon. Kim Jusiel
Avery My husband and I have been meaning to send you a note for a long while. We adopted Avery near the beginning of this year, and she has been the perfect addition to our family. The first night I came home from a late class and opened our front door, Avery greeted me by wagging her tale and jumping up to give me kisses. She was so excited to see me that it was as if she already felt at home and knew who her family was. Ever since then, Avery has been brightening up our days, and we cannot imagine our lives without our little beagle girl. We bought her a new dog bed to get her into the habit of sleeping on that at night, but she's so cuddly and sweet, we couldn't say no to her sleeping in bed with us. She welcomes any new situation and new people to love. Her favorite things to do are to go to the dog park, romp around the yard with her tennis balls, and go visit her "sisters" at her grandma's house. Every time we take her on a walk, people "ooh" and "aww" over how beautiful she is and how curious her nose is. We wanted to thank Tampa Bay Beagle Rescue for helping us bring this special dog into our home, and for being advocates for animals in need of loving owners. Avery sends her doggie kisses! Best Wishes, Maisy and Chad Barnette
Andy Hi, this email is from Dennis, Virginia's son. Andy is doing GREAT! He is such a sweet and lovable dog and mom and Andy have totally bonded. He really likes people a lot and when ever I go over to visit I become his best pal! He has gained a little weight (maybe too much) but mom says he looks just fine. They are both up in Ct for the summer enjoying the dry cool non-humid weather taking long walks aroung the lake. Will send photos once I get a chance to take some! thanks for checking in, dennis Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
