![]() Farewell to our Jimmy. Jimmy was with us for just a short time, and I don't think he even knew how many people at the rescue had fallen in love with him. He came to us from Georgia, a survivor of abuse, this poor little fellow was afraid of everything, even a paper towel roll. Foster mom, Cindy, was working through the fears with him, and giving him all the love he deserved. Jimmy was learning to trust again ... he was learning how to play, thanks to Cindy (and the many toys she provided!) Before his abrupt end, he had started to give kisses, play with the cats (who seemed to understand Jimmy's fears) and he LOVED to ride in the booster seat in Cindy's truck so he could see everything out the window. Jimmy's final days were happy ones ... we only wish there were more days here with us. We know Jimmy is curled up on a cloud, or playing with the stars in the sky, and he is happy, no fears, no hurts. Jimmy, we love you! ![]() Hoot was adopted from a friend of mine that races greyhounds when he was three years old (a winner of course) his racing name was YAKKITY YACK,he never gave us any reason for us to think something was wrong until after my husbands Jim's death. Like he knew he was needed for Jim. Hoot although not a beagle was one of the greatest loves of not only my life but also my husbands life. He was my husbands favorite dog and had to be put to sleep for bone cancer 2 months after my husbands death. At the age of 12 years. We never had one moment of doubt whether we did the right thing about adopting him he was such a beautiful doll, with a wonderful soul, both in looks and in personiality. He was one of those special dogs that everyone loved especially the people that lived with him.... We miss him terribly, and I am sure he met my husband at the rainbow bridge as he was Jim's favorite dog, as a 24 hour companion to my husband before his death. Hoot you are sadly missed and still I look for you, I hope that you and Jim are doing all the things that he could not do with you while you were with us. I still have a very big empty place in my heart for you. Betty Roberts, Odessa Florida ![]() In Loving Memory of Bentley Herz (January 5, 1988 — September 1, 2005) The memories of Bentley live on in our hearts than spanned nearly 17 years as our loving companion. From the playful rambunctious puppy stage to the quiet loving sweetness in later years, Bentley was always very affectionate. His keen sense of smell would lead him to mischief chasing squirrels, rabbits & birds, cornering possums in their holes, and opening the trash. He never lost his desire to grab anything he could carry through his doggie door to the back yard to bury. Working in the yard we would uncover pot holders, lost shoes and wallets, socks, work gloves, and the list goes on. He would never let us forget when it was time to eat and loved his daily walks. Bentley kept his puppy qualities of curiosity, dependence and a loving disposition. We are truly grateful for the unconditional love that he brought into our lives. Nancy & Bruce Herz Tampa, FL ![]() Emily was only with me a few hours after leaving the shelter, before she had to leave for the bridge due to a very aggressive cancer. Even though she had this cancer, she remained very sweet, showed dignity, showed love and accepted love. She knew she was safe and free, helping her to the bridge was the best that could be done for her. Even though I only had her a short time, her paws landed right on my heart, and she will never be forgotten. It was an honor to know Emily. with love, wen ![]() Noah was a southern gentle hound, he had grace and style. He came to me as a foster, on 9/11/04. Although he was a foster until we adopted him on Christmas Day 2004, there was never much doubt that we belonged to him. I believe we were led to him, and even though he was with us only a short time, he gave a lifetime's worth of love to us. He set up a life in my heart, one that will never be forgotten. We will meet again some day, my sweet fatman, and we will enjoy some cheesecake together. Loved, and very much missed by wen and Pat Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
