![]() Reuben.....what can I say about such a gentle hound? He graced us with his presence, and it was an honor to know this old man. He was mostly blind, and deaf, he had congestive heart failure, but what a spirit to share! He could make you laugh and realize that despite any problems, there was always good things in your life too. He loved everyone he met, and they loved him. And most of all, we loved him. wen and Pat ![]() Oliver was supposed to be dumped in the woods because he didn't want to hunt anymore. We were very fortunate, as a good samaritan took him in until they could get him into rescue. I got Oliver on my birthday, and was intending to get him healthy and find him a home. Not too long after I got him, a tumor appeared. We had it removed and found out it was an aggressive cancer. Oliver was such a good beagle boy. He attached himself to me, sleep up next to my head each night, until he just didn't have any more energy. He was with me a little less than 2 months, and as it is with all of the older ones, they just seem like they have been with you their whole lives. And we miss and love him as if he had been. wen and Pat ![]() Andee was one of the silliest older hounds we have had the privilege of sharing our lives with. Her smiles will be missed, along with her dainty, sloppy kisses. Andee came out of Key West and was terrified of thunderstorms. As hard as we tried, we never could get her over that fear. Her claim to fame came at ABC's Waddle in Niagra Falls in 2005 when she came in 2nd place for laziest hound. She had to be woken up to leave the contest area! She was very pleased with her title. We love you, baby girl! Pat and wen
Brody
Dear Brody, I only knew you for a few minutes, your last minutes before going to the bridge. My heart is aching still and so I'll write a tribute to you. I was just driving home down the same road I drive daily, when I saw you and your brother lying on the side of the road. You were both very hurt, but still with us. Thankfully, the man on the motorcycle stopped too. He went to help JC and I stayed with you. You lay motionless while I talked to you and stroked your sweet face. Your brown eyes were so sad as you looked at me. I kept telling you what a good boy you must have been and asked you to hang on while I called the phone number on your tag. But your breaths were shallow and short. In just minutes your eyes no longer saw me , your pain was gone ... you went swiftly to the bridge. Your mom and dad were devastated when I went to their door. Your toys were there and your big water bowl too. They came with me to see you one more time, and to also help JC get to the hospital. The man on the motorcycle kept JC alive by keeping pressure on his severe wounds. Brody, I'm sure the big van didn't mean to hit you, but I don't know why they didn't stop to help us. Some humans just don't understand. At least I know you were very loved on this earth, and I am glad I was with you to comfort you on your way to the bridge. Everyone will miss your beautiful retriever smile. ![]() We only knew you for a short time Roxy, but we were trying so hard to find you just the right home. Everyone at the Humane Society and the Rescue were pulling for you. After 9 years with one family, they left you with us. As we all waited and hoped for your new family to appear, you fell ill. Again, we hoped and prayed you could live out your golden years with someone who loved you. Instead, you went to the rainbow bridge. Your friends at the Humane Society and Beagle Rescue know you are making friends on the bridge and we can picture your sweet beagle face. You will stay in our hearts sweet girl!
