Anwell, Lawerence, and Truman were all confiscated from the same property in Pasco County. They are very scared and will need patient and loving homes to teach them to trust again. They love being in the company of the other dogs in their foster home. They are making great progress and Lawerence will already take a treat from your hand! He is the most confident of the group and we believe he will continue to progress and be ready for a forever family in a short period of time. Anwell and Truman are more fearful and will take more time to gain confidence. Anwell has had one hind leg traumatically amputated which has clearly contributed to his fearfulness. We wish we knew what had happened to him but sadly we will never know. All the boys allow you to pet them and give them ear scratches when crated and we are starting to think they actually like it! LOL! They are very beautiful beagles and we know that with some time and patience and the power of the beagle pack they will learn how to be confident, loving beagles with bright futures in their new forever families. Lawrence needs to be in a household with a fenced yard. 8-30 New Foster update - Lawrence has been with me for a week now, and he's made great progress. From being afraid to enter the house or let me near him, he's now going in and out (loves the dog park) and lets me pet him pretty much whenever and wherever we are. He's jumping up on the couch (and bed) next to me as well. He's still jumpy with sudden noises, movements or if I have things in my hand. My parents recently visited and he let them love on him as well. He really seems to need the company of another animal, as when I left him alone once (to take my dog to the park alone) he escaped his kennel and chewed a door threshold to the outside. Guessing he missed us. When left out of the kennel with my dog for short trips, he does fine. No chewing issues. We're working on housetraining; not quite there yet. He also has yet to show interest in toys/balls....but loves pig ears and Oinkie sticks. (small roll up strips) Leashes, not so much - depends on if he wants to go to the same place you do - he's also enjoyed chewing a couple of mine in half. He follows me around, and one look in his eys- you can tell this is a dog who wants to please and be loved.....he just so unsure of the reception he'll get. A calmer home may be best for him as he rebuilds his trust in mankind.
