Gilbert is a sweet young boy with a furry coat as soft as the fleece blanket he sleeps with. He is a smart fella and has already learned to give eye contact and sit for treats. Good Boy! He likes his belly rubbed and gets along well with his foster beagle buddy Dusty.

Gilbert is a mellow dog who prefers laying on his mat or in his crate as you can see from the pictures below. Landon, the 2 1/2 year old boy next door, had to come over today to see him again, after meeting him yesterday through the fence. Gilbert was elated and played in the backyard for half an hour with Landon and Dusty. He is also very well mannered on a leash and looks forward to his evening walks.

Treats & Toys - Gilbert responds well to tiny bits of turkey hotdogs for training and his favorite chew is a Dingo rawhide bone. As for toys, he seems to only like a ball, but he loves to run around the backyard for play. We are working on fetching. Update - 09-30-08 - We have quickly learned that Gilbert is not familiar with toys, which explains the lack of interest. After many attempts of play, he has become fond of toys that have a squeaker inside. Now, when he hears the squeaker, he goes crazy and loves to romp around with it and play fetch. He even encourages Dusty to play tug and chase with him.

10-05-08 - Update - Gilbert was adopted by a family that needs him. Father died within last year and family cat was attacked and killed by coyotes. They kept the name Gilbert and Edith advised me that the kids and neighborhood adore him. A perfect match for their family I was told. :o)
