Beagle (medium coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Adult : : Medium
Rhymer is an adorable little beagle boy. He found himself at animal control and we can't imagine why no one came for him. Classic coloring and looks, full of personality, Rhymer will steal your heart. 1-25-15: Rhymer did great his first night! He scratched at the door to go out, and he has had no mistakes made in the house at this time. Rhymer seems to have crate experience as he took himself "to bed" in the crate and he slept through the night. (In experimenting over the next three weeks with time "out" of kennel, he has had a couple mistakes when left for 3 hours or more. Crating when gone seems best for him.) His mistakes seem limited to the bathroom and area rugs. He is little nervous with sudden movements or noises, but most likely due to his new enviroment. Rhymer is making friends with his new cocker spaniel "sister"....appears to be playful, just needing to get comfortable. He'll mouth toys for a minute or two, but still doesn't seem to know what to do with them. :-) "Hi, Rhymer here. Monday (1-26) was my foster mom's first day back at work since I came to her house. Hehe, she learned real fast I know how to climb baby gates, so anyone looking to adopt me - when you go out for long periods of time - I'll need to be secured! I was found hanging out on her bed, but she's glad I didn't chew up anything. Oh yeah, she says I am the definition of a 'wiggle butt'...when I'm happy. I think that's a good thing. PS - I like pig ears!" Rhymer ablsolutely loves his humans. When I return home, he is sooo excited! He'll want to climb into your skin, if he could. and will cry with excitement. This is the only time I've heard him vocalize at this point. After some loving and reasurring for a few minutes, he calms right back down. Wednesday (1-28) was a first of many experiences for Rhymer: first trip to the dog park, and first "real" bath. He had a blast at the park, got along with all the dogs and visited every human for some loving. The bath? Not so much. He was not a fan but may settle down with practice. Lots of play time and wrestling tonight with his pack sister. He's gotten over a cold and is more energetic and showing his true personality. The trip to the vet for neutering included an opportunity to sniff the clinic cats. (3 of them)....he seemed curious, but did not pull to go at them or become excited. This bodes well for him being ok with cats in other places too. He loves having attention, especially when you first return home, but will also take himself off to a dog bed or carpet for a rest.
