Marco got his name because his foster family found him swimming in their pool when he first came home! We are pretty sure he ended up in there by accident and was very happy to be shown the stairs to get out! He's never gone back since.
Inside the house, he has shown good manners, except for a keen interest in what is on the counters, but we are working on that. He gets along with his foster brothers and sisters, is quiet in his crate during meal time, and even went to the crate on his own for a nap. He loves to curl up on the dog bed or the sofa for a snooze. We just recently learned that Marco likes to play fetch! He also plays constantly with his best foster buddy, Dublin.
Marco is bigger than most beagles and more closely resembles some of the larger hounds like a harrier or fox hound. He has the classic markings and features, just a bigger, sturdier frame. But he also has those classic beagles characteristics - personality, curiousity, and sweetness. His bigger body just gives him more room to pack in a lot of love - love he is ready to give to a very lucky family!
He was very calm and patient during his bath. He was also good in the car on the way home. Marco was also quickly to learn his leash manners. We don't know why his first family gave up on him!
Unfortunately, Marco had a seizure a few weeks ago and is now on medication to control them and so far, so good. Epilepsy is a manageable and treatable condition and it just needs consistency and understanding on the part of his forever family.
We think Marco could do well in just about any situation. Come to one of our events or put in an application to meet Marco soon! He is a super boy.
