Beagle : : Male (neutered) : : Young : : Small
Tarzan came to us as part of a neglect case. He was kept outside in a small pen with 6 of his canine family members and was not given proper care. TBBR to the rescue! His teeth have been cleaned after all those days with little to eat and poor quality food when it was available. He is starting to put on weight and is so handsome! He was also neutered and his heartworm test was negative (hooray!). For living in pretty rough conditions most of his life, Tarzan sure has moved on quickly and learned to enjoy the lap of luxury. His favorite spots in his foster home are on the pet bed piled high with toys or an open crate to take a snooze. Tarzan loves attention and soaks up affection like a sponge. He zooms around with his nose to the ground like a Beagle superhero but stops dead in his tracks for a stroke down his back or under his chin. Meal times prove to be an incredibly exciting time for Tarzan and he is practicing self control and good habits but finds it hard to resist inhaling his kibble. But he figured out VERY quickly how to sit nicely and wait for a couple pieces to come at a time so progress is being made. Tarzan also like to celebrate the return of his humans with great energy, although he tends to be pretty quiet and uses his bark with discretion. We feel that Tarzan could thrive in just about any setting but his new family will need to help him with his confidence. He is still learning that people are positive things and that loud noises aren't so scary.
