Miss Lillian was found on a dirt road and brought to us by a kind citizen. Somehow this gem of a girl found herself in a lousy predicament and had been absent proper care for quite some time. Most notably, she had a significant limp on a rear leg. TBBR to the rescue! X-Rays revealed that Lillian actually had a broken femur and that this break was rather old. Remarkably, the fractured end of the bone had actually punctured the thigh muscles and was stuck between the muscle and the skin. Imagine how painful that must have been all this time! Despite the discomfort, Lillian maintained a positive outlook. She played with toys, greeted people with a hearty tail wag, and enjoyed walks and daily life. But leaving her leg in that condition was not an option. After review by our great vets and long discussions, it was determined that the best course of action for Lillian was to remove the leg. While this was not what we would have preferred, it gave her the best long-term prognosis. Fast forward a few weeks and the hair is growing back, the lamp shade has come off and the wag has gotten even more enthusiastic. Lillian always got around on three legs and losing the injured one has freed her from the pain and discomfort and allowed her really blossom. She is truly a special girl and is a fabulous addition to her foster home. Playful, happy, smart, energetic, and silly, Lillian will make a great addition to just about any home. She initially showed some sensitivity to having her collar tugged on but has since put that behind her. Lillian has already moved on from her surgery and doesn't think of herself as a three-legged dog, and neither should you. She is a wonderful, snggly companion and her story is quite inspiring. Come meet her and fall in love.
