Note from Summer’s foster Mom:
I have had the pleasure of Summer’s company for the past 3 months and I have to say she has quite a remarkable spirit. She has been through giving birth to 6 puppies at the pound, 4 mouth surgeries, a very invasive mammary gland tumor removal (benign….yay) and being spayed. Through all of this she has never shown signs of even the slightest discomfort. She has been an awesome mother to her babies in spite of her own medical problems.
Summer has obviously been severely neglected in her past life and yet she still just wags her tail at the mere sight of an approaching human that may want to pet her. She is truly the example of unconditional love from an animal and deserves to have a loving family of her own to care for her.
Summer would love a safe place to run & play and soft, warm bed to sleep in. Of course lots of hugs too!





Summer is an incredibly sweet beagle girl who had the terrible misfortune of ending up very pregnant and at the county shelter. Despite being "ready to burst" pregnant she would drag herself up to the cage door to greet anyone who happened to pass through the very deserted isolation area of the shelter. She touched the hearts of so many at the shelter we just had to save her. Poor Summer ended up having her pups on the cold cement of her shelter cage before we were able to get her out. Fortunately we were able to get them all out of there quickly and into a foster home. She was a wonderful momma to her pups who have all been adopted except for little Boo who is still struggling with upper respiratory infections.
The vet thinks Summer sustained some severe trauma to her mouth at some time and as a result has lost nearly all her teeth. She has a few teeth left in the front on top and bottom. She had developed fistulas where her canines used to be all the way up into her nasal cavity. She underwent 4 surgeries on her mouth and the final one was a great success and she does not have any problems at all with her mouth. She is able to eat dry dog food moistened with warm water without any problem. Summer also had benign mammary tumors removed along with her spay surgery and through it all she was a trooper!!
She has just received her treatment for heartworms and is on her way to a full recovery.

All her babies were adopted into wonderful homes and now it is time for this loving and amazing beagle momma to find her forever home too!
