Cedar, a 45-pound 7 year old foxhound, is a dog who demands affection and sometimes believes she’s a lap dog. She’s a dog bed princess who seeks the largest dog bed she can find and drags all her toys into it. Her first foster parents affectionately call her the sock gnome because she loves collecting socks from the laundry. Her second foster home did not notice any of this behavior. While she’s playful with other dogs, she can be protective of her toys and food. Her affectionate nature may not always respect personal space, making her unsuitable for individuals with balance issues. It took Cedar about a month to start actively interacting with her foster parents. As you earn her trust, her affectionate behavior intensifies. While generally quiet, Cedar is not recommended for apartment living. She sleeps in her crate (with a very plush dog bed) at night and even tucks herself in. Cedar has had no accidents in her foster home with access to a dog door and regular trips outside. Cedar came to us extremely underweight and malnourished. She has a low-fat dietary requirement because fatty foods can cause her to experience gastrointestinal upset. Currently, Cedar is on the Square Pet VFS low-fat formula. It’s available without a prescription on Amazon: https://a.co/d/1ujYmTA
