Sammy V just came out of animal control and we are SO glad to have him. That clearly was not the place for him -- as he was very nervous from all the noise and confusion. He put his paws in my lap and pressed his head in for attention as soon as he was clear of the gate. Sammy is also pretty significantly under weight, so wherever he was before, he is in a much better place now.
He he has shown himself to have good energy and manners around his foster siblings and enjoys some nice snuggle time on the couch. In fact, he insists on it! Sammy also is finding out that toys and chew bones are great fun. He is learning that the crate is a happy place and picking up on it very quickly. We are so impressed! Sammy is not a big fan of thunderstorms so he will need to be crated when he cannot be supervised. Although during storms when his people are home, her would prefer to be with them. Storms are scary!
We expect Sammy will do well in just about any setting, but one that focuses on positive reinforcement will be best. He is a little larger than a standard beagle and his piercing auburn eyes really set him apart. If you are looking for a sweet, snuggly hound, don't let Sammy V pass you by.
