Cherokee has just been awarded the "mellowest and smartest beagle of all award"! The picture (see below) was taken at our last event. As we all sweltered in the heat, Cherokee found the coolest spot to lay in under the picnic table. His buddy Pusha decided it looked "cool" and dug out his own little hole...throwing all the cool sand ON TOP OF Cherokee. Cherokee didn't bat an eye, just kept on taking his snooze. What a mellow fellow he is!

Cherokee is in a wonderful foster home and is showing us what a funny and special beagle boy he is. Foster mom reports that Cherokee is housebroken, loves toys, has a beautful bay (and uses it when he finds a wonderful scent, when he is playing hard AND when he sees the kitties of the house!) He also has found out the comforts of the reclining chair and seems to have adopted that as his favorite place to rest. He is quite a handsome man, with some distinquishing gray in his face....but look at his beautiful shiny tri-color coat. This guy is definitely 5 years young!

Cherokee was diagnosed with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever which was causing him to have seizures. This is a tick transmitted disease much like Lyme disease or Erlichia. Luckily it is easily treated with antibiotics and steroids. He is almost done with his medications to treat the RMSF and should be good as new after he completes his treatment!!

He is a sweet heart of a beagle who found himself at the county shelter for some reason. He would love the comforts of home again and a family to love and play with. Please come out to meet this wonderful, "sturdy" boy!
